Ambassadors for Christ, Classical Christian Education, and ECA!

I’m writing this article in the midst of Passion Week, a time when Christians commemorate the days of Christ’s life on earth leading up to His resurrection. While we can become enthralled with the recounting of the events, I am enchanted with the results! The fact that Jesus took on our sins at the cross, thus paying the penalty for them, is God’s way of reconciling us to Himself through Christ. Thus, the reconciling has everything to do with righteousness that He has provided for us in Christ – something of which we are not capable in and of ourselves. Once this message becomes inculcated in believers, they become ambassadors for Christ!

AMBASSADORS FOR CHRIST

If you’d like a great devotion time with your family, read II Corinthians 5. The Apostle Paul is calling the people of the church at Corinth to realize they are ambassadors for Christ. Read the climax of that passage in verses 18-21 (ESV):

“All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to Himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making His appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.”

As we conduct school at Evangelical Christian Academy, our prayer is that Christ will make Himself known to our students (and others who are impacted by the ministry of ECA) and that out of gratitude for what He has done, they will recognize that believers are indeed “ambassadors for Christ.”

AMBASSADORS FOR CLASSICAL CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

Several years ago I met David Goodwin, President of the Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS), and Lee Thompson for coffee. Lee is an older gentleman who never had a Classical Christian education CCE), but he has become so enamored with ACCS schools that he has become an ambassador for the movement.

Just this week, Lee and his wife Martha came to visit ECA – a sincere encouragement to me. They are curious about how ECA is being proactive in the implementation of Classical Christian education. Lee and Martha are visiting several schools and praying that ACCS grows in both the number of these schools in Colorado, and also the number of students served by each school. I find it to be a real blessing to know there are ambassadors for our cause who are praying and actively pursuing the expansion of the CCE movement! The Thompsons have been an inspiration to me and I hope you will be inspired, too.

AMBASSADORS FOR EVANGELICAL CHRISTIAN ACADEMY

We are in the process of enrollment for the 2019-2020 school year. I cannot remember a year when we have had more committed to our school for the upcoming year while still in the month of April. You should be aware that 87% of our current students have already indicated that they plan to return for next year. That, coupled with new students who have already enrolled, places us just 11 students short of this year’s enrollment.

God has reconciled us to Himself in Christ Jesus: thus, we are ambassadors for Him. People like Lee and Martha are praying for our strength, commitment, and growth. Let this be an encouragement for us to be ambassadors for this cause through the ministry of ECA!
